 Target Population

The primary target population for this feature includes internal teams at Yusen Logistics, their vendors, and end customers. Yusen’s operations managers, fleet coordinators, and logistics planners require an enhanced print FO functionality that includes shipment numbers, allowing them to align Fleet Orders (FO) with customer-specific requirements. This is crucial for simplifying the assignment process, providing clear documentation, and increasing awareness of the SKUs contained within Delivery Orders (DOs). Additionally, Yusen’s vendors, who are third-party fleet operators, need FOs that display shipment numbers alongside DO numbers to ensure operational clarity and build trust with end customers. For Yusen’s end customers, having shipment numbers visible in print FOs adds a layer of transparency, allowing them to track specific shipments and associated SKUs, thus improving satisfaction and confidence in Yusen’s services.

Beyond Yusen, this feature is highly relevant for other logistics providers or McEasy customers who manage multiple delivery orders with diverse shipment requirements. Companies in industries such as retail, FMCG, manufacturing, and third-party logistics often require customized shipment documentation to communicate effectively with their customers. This feature can support operational workflows where internal DO numbers are insufficient for external communication, and shipment-specific identifiers are critical for aligning with customer expectations. By enabling the inclusion of shipment numbers in print FOs, McEasy’s TMS can cater to a broader audience, enhancing its utility and applicability across various projects and customers.

 Business Value

The inclusion of shipment numbers in the printed Fleet Order (FO) enhances the operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and market competitiveness of McEasy's Transportation Management System (TMS). For Yusen Logistics, this improvement addresses a critical gap by aligning print FO outputs with their end-customer requirements, streamlining communication, and reducing manual effort to reconcile shipment numbers with internal DO references.

This feature adds significant value by enabling customers to:

  • Improve operational transparency, ensuring shipment details are accurately communicated to end customers and vendors.

  • Enhance customer trust and satisfaction by offering clear and professional documentation tailored to their needs.

  • Support SKU-level tracking and visibility for businesses requiring detailed reporting, fostering better supply chain management.

  • Increase TMS adoption and retention, making McEasy a more attractive solution for logistics providers handling complex documentation and diverse shipment requirements.

By addressing this need for Yusen Logistics, McEasy can position itself as a flexible and customizable logistics solution, expanding its applicability across other customer segments, including retail, manufacturing, and FMCG sectors, where similar requirements for shipment visibility exist.

 Proposed solution

To address Yusen Logistics' need for enhanced print FO functionality and improve the overall usability of McEasy's TMS, the following solution is proposed:

  1. Include Shipment Number in Print FO:

    • Modify the existing print FO template to display both Delivery Order (DO) numbers and Shipment Numbers.

    • Ensure the Shipment Number field is prominently placed and easily identifiable within the PDF to enhance clarity for end customers.

  2. Allow Customization of Shipment Numbers:

    • Enable users to input and associate a free-text Shipment Number with each DO during assignment to an FO.

    • Ensure this shipment number field supports alphanumeric values and special characters (e.g., for SKUs, customer-specific codes, or internal references).

 Success Criteria

  • Inclusion of Shipment Numbers:

    • The print FO template accurately displays shipment numbers alongside DO numbers in the PDF for all applicable FOs.

    • Shipment numbers are correctly linked to the respective DOs during the FO creation process.

  • Customizability:

    • Users can input and modify shipment numbers as free-text fields without technical issues or limitations (e.g., character limits, unsupported symbols).

  • Backward Compatibility:

    • Existing users of the print FO feature who do not require shipment numbers experience no disruption in their workflows or output formats.
